My philosophy of teaching emerged from my experience as an adjunct professor and has continued to evolve throughout the past five years of my experience as a tenure-track professor. Throughout this experience I’ve constantly asked questions, learning how to improve with each answer provided by my mentor, my colleagues from VCU and other universities, teaching workshops and most importantly, my students.
The end goal for every student I teach is to simply make them more prepared for the next level while nurturing their unique strategic and creative talents. To accomplish this goal, I challenge my students to solve problems with unexpected creativity while showcasing their style, talent and point of view. Over a semester they will become better at art direction, copywriting and strategic thinking while learning to be a confident and persuasive presenter of their work. These skills are important because no matter how much technology changes, there will always be business problems that can be solved with creativity.
